There is a multitude of new visualisation technologies for the web, many of them affecting how we do or can perceive news. Anyone who has worked on a news desk will instantly get this one – News Map – and how it can be useful (and its limitations, and what one might do to change it for a professional news editor). Great piece of work.
I found this via a site called 10,000 words that is worth a trawl through if you are interested. I will from time to time revisit this subject. The story of how journalism hits technology and vice versa is partly about new interfaces, but to my mind there have been surprisingly few durable changes here: much about the web and new media is very conventional.
