NYT opens archive to programmers

The NYT opened up access to its entire archive via an API, a programming interface. It lets developers use NYT news and stuff in their own applications.

Monetising the archive will be a critical opportunity and challenge for the largest media groups, one that will stretch their business, technology and editorial departments. This side of the business – use of archive, syndication etc – is hard to grasp but critical to the future of the industry.
