NYT launches local sites

Citizen journalism and local journalism are fashionable and so the New York Times is trying out more of both. “The New York Times is joining the growing world of local “citizen journalism” with two Web sites launching Monday focused on five specific communities in New Jersey and Brooklyn,” reports Editor and Publisher. “The local blog network will be filled with content from the paper’s editors (one for each site),” says techCrunch, “but also rely partially on citizen journalism i.e. unpaid contributions from locals readers who will be able to post everything from short video clips to wedding announcements. Apparently, the network will also feature a map-based real-estate listings section
