NYT and WashPost cut back

More signs of distress at America’s largest newspapers. “Nearly a year after losing 100 newsroom staffers to buyouts, The Washington Post is reportedly at it again, offering a buyout package that is apparently more limited in its pool of candidates,” reports Editor and Publisher.  “The New York Times Co. is planning to cut all salaries across the board (including other papers in its group) by 5%, starting next month, under a plan that appears to be similar to many furloughs with each staffer given an additional 10 days off per year,” E&P reports separately.
